* One of The Most Genuine People We’ve Ever Met
I found out that I was pregnant in February 2014 with our second boy. My first son was born on 09/03/2012. My first pregnancy was easy and there were no complications, however, I felt that I wanted the knowledge and support of a professional for my second. I also felt that I wanted to have a natural, at-home childbirth, and I knew that would require some preparation mentally and physically, that is when I started searching for a Doula.
I interviewed a couple of Doulas before I met Kristy Wise. From the moment I met Kristy at my home, I felt a feeling of comfort and ease, and trusted without any doubt that she would provide me with the support and information that I needed to be confident in my decision to have a natural birth. She worked around my schedule to meet with me at my home on several occasions after her initial visit to make sure that I continued to prepare myself mentally and physically.
I went into labor at 8:15am on September 28th at my home. While we originally planned to have an at-home birth, we were forced to rush to the hospital due to certain circumstances. Kristy was extremely responsive and arrived at the hospital shortly after we did. She coached me through labor, put my husband’s nerves at ease tremendously, and made certain that the nurses were following my birth plan 100%. This was an amazing experience thanks to Kristy.
The best part about Kristy is that she is one of the most genuine people we’ve ever met. She was always available to meet in person or talk on the phone. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Kristy to anyone that is looking for a Doula.
* I Would Definitely Recommend Kristy Wise To Anyone Searching For a Doula!
This was my third pregnancy and I have always wondered about using a Doula. Kristy was working on getting certified and offered her service for experience. This was a great opportunity for me and my situation.
My biggest concern with using a Doula was the fear of being judged due to personal choices. That was just not the case here. Kristy was awesome! She made me feel comfortable with my choices. She made sure I was educated and made sure that my questions were answered.
She asked questions that I didn’t even think to ask myself. It was nice having her at the birth. It allowed my husband to rest up after a full day of work to then come to an all nighter labor.
It was also really great to have someone to talk to and answer questions about my nights of pre labor leading up to the big event. I would definitely recommend Kristy Wise to anyone searching for a doula!
* Kristy helped provide me with information to empower my decision making along the way.
I met my doula, Kristy Wise, at the Empower Your Birth seminar and immediately was drawn to her warm personality. My husband is in the Air Force and was deployed overseas for my third trimester and I felt I could use the support of a doula to help me navigate through any issues that arose and provide support at the birth, especially if he was not able to make I back in time for the labor.
At 34 weeks, I found out my baby was still in the frank breech position and discussed the options with Kristy and received support that helped me advocate for myself and my baby when I next saw my OB. She also provided me reading material, exercises and researched pertinent information relevant throughout my pregnancy.
Upon learning that my baby most likely would not flip due to space and lack of amniotic fluid for safe ECV, a cesarean was scheduled and again Kristy helped provide me with information to empower my decision making along the way.
As feared, my water broke and I went in to active labor early, before my husband was able to return from his deployment. Fortunately, I knew I had a support who could be there for me and help me through the process. Kristy arrived at the hospital as soon as she could and was by my side through the cesarean, helping me Skype my husband in and providing support and distraction as needed.
If it would not have been for Kristy, not only would I have had to go through the cesarean alone, but I would have gone through my pregnancy less informed. Kristy was not “pushy” but provided great information and support and I would highly recommend her.
